Quality Improvement Project

The Quality Improvement Project located at the Centre has been funded since 2004.  The original 12 month funding period was part of a seeding grant process from the Department of Human Services to support out-of-home care organisations in their quality assurance compliance with the newly developed Minimum Standards in Home-Based Care and Residential Care.

The project now receives recurrent funding to support and enhance the engagement of our member organisations and our sector with quality improvement and assurance processes. Since the implementation of the Child, Youth and Families Act 2005, this support includes the provision of practical advice and assistance with self-assessments and other activities associated with complying with the Registration Standards.

Main functions include:

  •      Sector Development  - resource development, training expansion, conference and awards representation, responses to new initiatives including new Child Legislation and formal registration for Family Services and Out of Home Care (Home Based Care and Residential Care)
  •      Member Representation – includes consultancy, written briefs and submissions, participation on working groups and learning approaches such as e-group moderation, Learning Circles in Quality and  Looking After Children (LAC)
  •      Organisational Development – internal quality enhancement and learning processes including accredited training programs. The Diploma of Business (Quality Auditing) and the two-day Internal Quality Auditing programs are two our popular courses.

For further details about the project, contact Judith Newbold at the Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare on (03) 9614 1577 [interstate +03; IDD + 61 3].

*** STOP PRESS ***

The Loddon-Mallee Working Group has developed a Supervision Toolkit and the final version is now available on the Centre’s website.  The purpose of the kit is to assist community service organizations with the preparation of better documentation and supervision processes and has been designed so that the Kit and parts there of, may be modified to suit the needs of individual organizations.

Learning Circles

Participants have noted that the Learning Circle format provides a great opportunity to “support best practice, hear new and informative ideas, problem-solve and build collegiate relationships.”

The Centre currently offers Learning Circles in the areas of:

  • Quality Improvement;
  • Looking After Children (LAC)

The format can include occasional guest speakers.  Generally the focus is on peer development and cross organisational information sharing.

Simply contact the relevant convener of the Learning Circle you wish to attend, and you can participate in person or be linked in via teleconference.

We will simply dial you into the relevant group.

 ALL LEARNING CIRCLES ARE HELD AT THE CENTRE BETWEEN 2:00pm to 4:00pm
